Universal Autofill question

Question

I was poking around the community and found the page "Use Universal Autofill in apps and browsers on your Mac". I immediately turned it on in my settings. I then tried the example with the Zoom app and command=\  It filled in my username and password and signed me in.

I'm trying to remember how I signed in to Zoom before. I suppose I would open 1P and copy/paste the info in. So is this feature only to allow 1P to auto fill information into applications running on the mac? Will this setting change or affect anything else? I assume in my browsers (Chrome and Safari) it still uses the 1P extension with the little 1P icon to the right of the text fields?

Applications on the Mac generally don't require username and passwords, right? I guess it can't hurt.

Universal Autofill is a feature in 1Password 8 that allows you to fill your login credentials into Mac apps, you can read more about it here: Use Universal Autofill in apps and browsers on your MacBefore Universal Autofill was released, with the launch of 1Password 8, you would have had to copy and paste your credentials from 1Password into Mac apps since filling was only available for websites in the browser using the 1Password browser extension. Applications on the Mac generally don't require username and passwords, right? Any app that uses an account (such as Zoom, Microsoft Office, and more) will require that you login to the app. That's where Universal Autofill comes in to make that login process as easy as pressing Command-Backslash on your keyboard. 🙂-Dave
