Updates on Windows11 not going again, rollback

Hi,  I ran into this about last year when 1PW app updates to my W11 app are not able to install and 1PW rollsback.  It happens consistently and I could not locate what the resolution (steps) were to fix it.  My assumption is virus software, but usually that is on their side like Steam collides with that.

Is anyone else having this issue?  Nothing I could locate in prior discussion/help alluded to this, yet I know someone nudged me somewhere.

The update not going well is 8.11.2.  It does ask me to restart, but to no avail.  Usually what I get is the pop up that says 1PW tried, but failed, to install and is rolling it all back to 8.11.1.

Well, as with most answers I have run into or given, there is no clear-cut circumstance unless I run a perfect test.  Reason I say that is, I did turn Webroot off (I think I had it in this stream but will note it here too).  When I came back to 1PW, it had installed.

Maybe it was a small quick job done in 1-2 seconds, or maybe it somehow ran.  This last thought I give because a huge majority of the time there is no problem with installs.  It comes infrequently.  Like in months' time usually.  It's like, oh no, this again, I can't recall how long, but it does rear its ugly head.

I'd lay money that the turn-off does fix it, but it leaves too many open assumptions/questions.  Why does it not incur this problem all the time?  How fast are the installs?  I'd need two windows open which shame on me I could have done.  Next time!!

It is not a show-stopper, and maybe next time I will test with two windows to watch if it triggers automatically instead of me tabbing back and seeing it was already installed.  If 1PW could, it would be nice for any install to have a confirmation or a pop-up once it starts running.  This of course best for this kind of thing.

Good question! 

You're exactly right that this is an error we generally see when anti-virus software is blocking 1Password from updating properly. This can often be resolved by just updating the anti-virus software and Windows to the latest versions before updating 1Password. 

If that doesn't solve the issue, we recommend you whitelist 1Password in the anti-virus software. If that isn't possible, temporarily disable the anti-virus software to install the update.

    Well, it updated.  I have Webroot which is cloud based so it is always up to date.  Their functions were not interacting so I will follow up with them why I could not add an app anymore to the Allow or Monitor status.  I took it off and before I could jump to the 1PW open screen it was updated.

    Ergo, we are ok, but I'll follow up with Webroot.  Odd this doesn't always happen though.  Thanks!

    Hey.  It was hard to get Webroot to do anything other than phone call so I decided to plug around Windows11.  Without going through my steps which were hunches based on searches and experience, I finally got their program to try to add 1PW executable (the app) to their Privacy Protection (where I had to add Steam to fix that mess once).  So I could not locate 1PW in either of the Program Files directories in W11.  Is there one?
