Usability issues for Date selector when editing/creating New Item within App

Upon selection of the Date field type, the Calendar modal appears, prompting you to specify your date via mouse input.

Three observations:

  1. If you want to specify a date such as DOB that's an extreme range from the default selection (ie. today), then there's no direct way to jump closer to your date (eg. 2024 → 1970), so the only perceived option for mouse user is to perpetually click on the month arrows to reach the appropriate month
  2. The keyboard cursor isn't appearing when cancelling the Calendar modal, so it isn't obvious to the user that the date can still alternatively be input via keyboard
  3. The keyboard input mask for date seems to always expect MM/DD/YYYY and does not follow your OS' regional settings when it's DD/MM/YYYY.

Hi @ptooey, thanks for reaching out about these issues with the date picker!

I definitely agree that choosing a date that goes back or forward more than a couple of years is cumbersome to do using the date picker, and also that it's not at all clear that dates can be typed manually instead. I've passed your feedback along to our product team to see if we can get some improvements made here.

Dates showing in MM/DD/YYYY in edit mode no matter what your regional format is set to elsewhere is a known issue at the moment, and we do apologise for any inconvenience caused. I've added your case to the issue on file for our development team to see as they continue working on this.
