Username Autofill not updating Autofill uses old username after editing item, persists across devices, browsers, and reinstalls.

I updated the username on a login item. The item shows the new username correctly in the app, and copying the username field and pasting it manually enters the correct value. But autofill enters the previous username instead.

Already checked and ruled out:

  • No passkey on the item
  • No stale value in the item's auto-saved web form details section
  • Chrome's built-in password manager has no entry for this site, and I cleared autofill form data
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the 1Password browser extension
  • Tried a different browser
  • Tried a different device
  • Locked and unlocked 1Password, fully quit and reopened the browser
  • Searched all vaults including Archive for a duplicate item with the old username
  • Confirmed the item's website field matches the site

The behavior is identical everywhere: copy and paste gives the new username, autofill gives the old one, regardless of app, device, browser, or extension.

Environment:

  • 1Password for Mac 8.12.34
  • 1Password browser extension 8.12.34.34, build 81234034, stable channel
  • Chrome 152.0.7977.65 (Official Build) (arm64)
  • macOS Tahoe 26.6.2
  • Family account, I'm the owner

Has anyone seen an old value persist server-side like this, or is there a cached copy of the item I'm not finding?

Hi @MannyLou,

Thank you for detailing the steps that you’ve taken! It’s certainly strange that a previous username is being filled. You mentioned:

The item shows the new username correctly in the app, and copying the username field and pasting it manually enters the correct value

To confirm, do you see the new username when you view the item within the extension, rather than the app? Additionally, do you see the new username listed in the autofill prompt, or does the prompt have your old username?

In the meantime, if you’re comfortable with it, could you share the URL for the website where you’re experiencing the issue, so that I can test things on my end?
