version 6 to 7 problem

I have been a version 6 user for years and thought It might be a good idea to update to 7.  So I uploaded and installed version 7 and i had to create a user name and password.  Seemed like I could see all my data in the new version 7 so I locked the vault  but then  It would not open using my master password created in my version 6 which I still had.  When I followed the 1password the chat bot helper it leads me to a page where it requires me to have a secret key which I have never had (version 6) .  What am I missing to access version 7?  Initially 1password said i had a free trial, i don't really carer I just want to use version 7

Help please !

Hello @johnh! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into issues when updating. We're no longer selling standalone licenses for 1Password 7 and this version of 1Password is no longer supported. I recommend that you upgrade to 1Password 8 which is the newest version: Upgrade to 1Password 8

How to upgrade will depend on whether you're using a standalone vault or if you already have a 1Password account. I see that you have a ticket open with our team and one of my colleagues sent you an email a few hours ago, please continue the conversation there.
