Question

Want it to stay > not V in a field

Since a recent update, the autofill is offering a drop down when you're typing or copy/pasting in a field. I've tried different settings but the only thing that stops it is to stop autofill, which I don't want. I just want it to only autofill or suggest if I click on the icon in the field. I want it to stay at > and not go to V when I'm typing. (It was doing it when this first was an option but then an update made it auto drop down.)

Hello @lea8! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. Can you confirm that you'd like to avoid seeing the following when you started typing into a field:

If the answer is yes then the "Show autofill suggestions when a form field is in focus" setting would be the correct option however I see that there is currently an issue open with our development team where this option won't suppress the inline menu in all cases. I've added your report there.

For the time being, pressing esc on your keyboard will allow you to dismiss the inline menu and continue to type. Let me know if I misunderstood the issue.

Yes I believe we are talking about the same thing, at work I have to fill out forms often and it's giving me that box as you show in all the fields.

Thank you so much I will use the esc key for now.
I do have that "show autofill suggestions" toggled off.

Appreciate the fast response!

@lea8

I'm happy that the workaround of pressing esc works for now. Keep an eye on our release notes which will include a note when a fix for the setting is released in the future. 🙂
