Way to search Vault for password?

Hi! I use a monitoring service and just got an email notifying me that a password of mine has been found on the dark web. I'm wondering if there's a way to search my vault for that password to see where it's used so I can change it?

Hello @shaneharley! 👋

Good question! To see items that are using a specific password you can type that password into the search field inside of the 1Password for Mac app:

  1. Type your password into the search field in the app.
  2. Press Command+Enter (not just Enter) to see a list of items using that password.

You can also use Watchtower to find passwords that you need to change: Use Watchtower to find passwords you need to change

Amazing! Thank you. Is there a way to search Archived items as well? Doesn't seem to work on those items :(

@shaneharley

Thanks for the reply. It's not currently possible to search for a password in items that are in the Archive, you would need to restore the items first in order to search them.

I can see how searching for a password in the Archive would be useful and, while I can't promise anything, I've filed a feature request with our Product team on your behalf to look into adding this feature in the future. 🙂
