What type of backup do you use?

Just today I ran into an issue when deleting a bunch of old entries: At the very end of my cleaning up, I realized that the "1Password Account" entry (the one automatically created), got deleted somehow. No problem I said: just search the "Recently deleted" folder... but to my astonishment the item wasn't there to be found, nor in the Archive. So 1Password had a hiccup and lost 1 item that couldn't be found anywhere. The point is, as Rob said, for those times where the data cannot be retrieved (and since everything is synced on all platforms) how are we to get back on our feet for those instances where there's more than one item missing, like a deleted vault for exemple. So I backup the entire "family" to an encrypted SD card once every month and get that card to the bank (I do a rotation on two SD cards)... What you guys do to safe keep your vaults?

When using 1Password 8, there is no need to backup your vault since your data is already backed up to your 1Password account in the cloud. If you accidentally delete an item you can restore it from your 1Password account on 1Password.com: View and restore previous versions of items

There are two circumstances where a deleted item won't appear in Recently Deleted: 

1. If you delete and item from your vault and then Destroy permanently the same item from Recently Deleted.
2. If 30 days have passed since you deleted an item, you will no longer be able to view or restore a deleted item from Recently Deleted.

If you don't see a deleted item in Recently Deleted, and neither of these conditions apply, then we'll need to dig deeper to see what might have happened. 1Password will never delete or permanently destroy items without your explicit action. Try the following:

1. Open and unlock the 1Password desktop app.
2. Make sure that your entire account, or All Accounts if you're using multiple accounts, are selected from the sidebar in the upper left corner of the app. 
3. Click All Items in the sidebar. 
4. Click the sort button and choose: Date Created and Oldest First. 
5. The account starter item should be at the top of the list. If it isn't then, using the same sidebar settings selected, check the Archive and Recently Deleted sections again.

If you still don't see the item then when was the last time that you actually saw the starter item? And are you using a 1Password Families membership? Or a different membership?

As needed, which is usually after significant updates, I

1. export both 1PUX and CSV from the desktop app,
2. import the 1PUX data into two other password managers,
3. encrypt the 1PUX and CSV files,
4. save the encrypted files in a local archive, and
5. save the encrypted files in encrypted "cloud" storage.

This more than satisfies the 3-2-1 Backup Rule and provides an working alternative password manager for everything except passkeys in the event that I cannot use 1Password, while safely storing all my data on systems which I control in a form which I can use.

The files themselves are so small that all can be kept, effectively giving me an accessible archive of all data I've ever added.

Be sure to periodically test recovering data from those SD cards. While you are in no danger of wearing out the storage with writes, the fragile components are sensitive to the physical environment.
