Question

why does 1Password for safari keep asking for saving login after a login that is in 1password?

On every use of 1Password on Safari (either the extension or using macOS copy/paste of password, I get prompted to save or update the login. Why? Especially since i got the info from 1Password already?  Why not only ask this for new logins?

Hello @rmschne! 👋

I'm sorry that you're seeing an unexpected prompt when you fill your login credentials. Can you post a screenshot of the message that you're seeing so that I can better understand the situation?

I look forward to hearing from you.

I sent you diagnostic log as you requested.

The login id and password is correct, is not new, and there is no need to update since it was just used successfully. I assume there may be a setting somewhere, but unknown to me.

@rmschne

Thank you for posting the screenshot. You should only see that prompt if the login credentials that you've filled into the website differ from what is saved in 1Password. Can you double-check that both the username and password is saved correctly in 1Password?

If it is then I'd like to ask you to reproduce the issue again and then create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

Send a diagnostics report (browser extension)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

This behavior is very common for me as well on iPadOS 26. 1Password fills user name and password, which is successful, then then prompts as shown above. This is random so I cannot predict or narrow it down.

@kvozel

I'm sorry that you're running into a similar situation. The iPad is a little different from the Mac because there are two different filling methods available when filling in Safari:

When you ran into the issue, can you tell me if you used iOS AutoFill to fill your login? Or did you use 1Password for Safari?
