Why isn't DuckDuckDuck go privacy browser supported?

Have the 1Password folks re-evaluated their position on DuckDuckGo

Are you referring to making the 1Password extension available for the DuckDuckGo browser? If you are then, the last time that I checked, the DuckDuckGo browser didn't support third-party extensions. Has that changed recently? I've just downloaded DuckDuckGo for Windows and I don't see an option to install extensions.

I've reproduced the issue myself. It looks like DuckDuckGo for Windows is using Microsoft Edge WebView2 technology to render web pages which is likely why it's showing up as a Microsoft Edge browser when you sign into 1Password.com since I believe that Microsoft Edge uses the same browser rendering technology. The user-agent for both DuckDuckGo and Microsoft Edge also looks very similar. I'm not sure if there's a way for us to tell that you're using DuckDuckGo and not Microsoft Edge when you sign into 1Password.com but I'll flag this to our team to look into further.

1Password works with DuckDuckGo. It is always used on my Android Galaxy A32 5G to login. Thank you for pointing out that DuckDuckGo doesn't support extensions.

The problems I was having was logging into websites using DuckDuckGo for Windows. With Android and DuckDuckGo 1Password displays the logins along the bottom of the screen.

Maybe I'm missing something with 1Password and DuckDuckGo for Windows, thinking that the extension in Chrome and Edge auto populated the username and password.

My hope is that there is an easy way to use DuckDuckGo for Windows with 1Password.

Thanks for the reply. On Android, 1Password uses the native system API to fill passwords into apps like Brave: Use 1Password to save logins and sign in to apps and websites on your Android device

On Windows, 1Password uses it's own browser extension to fill and save passwords in Brave and other browsers. Unlike Chrome and Edge, DuckDuckGo for Windows doesn't support browser extensions. I recommend that you reach out to DuckDuckGo's support team to let them know that you'd like to see support for extensions introduced so that you can use browser extensions like 1Password in the browser in their browser.

That being said, you can fill passwords from 1Password into apps that don't support extensions (like DuckDuckGo) by using the auto-type feature: Use Auto-Type in apps and browsers on your Windows PC
