Windows Beta - Unlock with device

Hi there,

I just updated to the Beta version on Windows, to try out the Unlock with device feature.

I just wondered why turning this on requires you to turn off Use your device's Trusted Platform Module to unlock?

It would be great if we could have both on, as that would allow me to quickly unlock with Windows Hello when signing into 1Password for the first time (for example, when restarting Windows or booting up after having it shut down).

Cheers

Hello @gussic! 👋

I'm sorry for the delay in replying here. Our current implementation of device unlock isn't compatible with the Trusted Platform Module (TMP) feature for 1Password for Windows. I can definitely see how it would be useful to be able to use both at the same time and I've filed this as a feature request on your behalf for our team to consider as we iterate on the feature in the future.

For the time being, you can choose to use either device unlock or the TPM feature:

  • If you choose to enable “Unlock with device” then 1Password will unlock whenever you unlock your device but you’ll need to unlock 1Password using your account password after you restart your Windows PC.
  • If you choose to enable TPM then you’ll need to keep “Unlock with device” turned off. You’ll be able to unlock 1Password using Windows Hello even after restarting your Windows PC.

Thank you for the feedback!
