Windows Hello not working on my Windows PC

I'm sorry that you're running into trouble with Windows Hello on your Windows PC. Have you enabled the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) feature for Windows Hello in 1Password? If you have a compatible PC, this will enable you to avoid having to enter your account password after quitting 1Password or restarting your PC:

Hi Dave, yep I have tried it, enabling Trusted Platform does not do anything. 1Password still wants the password to enable Windows Hello every time.

Just to be sure you remember, we went over all this extensively in late 2023, if I recall. There was no solution, so if there hasn’t been a lot of change since then, I think we can let the troubleshooting stage be for now. I’ve accepted that 1Password does not support Windows Hello on my computer, but I was still holding on to hope that it might change in the future.

I noticed you said ”your mac”, it’s not actually a mac, it’s a Surface Pro 9. I hope I didn’t fill in the wrong details at some point, sorry if that happened.

I'm sorry for the "Mac" typo, I've corrected that now. Thanks for mentioning the previous investigation, I've taken a look at the issue that was filed with our development team and I don't see any updates just yet.

Interestingly enough, I also don't see any other customer reports of the same issue and our team hasn't been able to reliably reproduce the issue either. Out of curiosity, since you reported the issue last year have you reloaded Windows your Windows PC at any point? Are you still seeing the same issue on the same device or on a different device?

If you mean have I reinstalled Windows, then no, it has actually been surprisingly stable, so I haven't messed with it too much. Windows Hello works with everything else nicely. I don't have access to another device that supports Windows Hello.

One question: Does 1password need to be run with admin rights? Edit: Never mind, tried it and it was hilarious - when I started 1password, windows asked for the admin password, then 1password asked for my password, then 1password launched windows hello, then windows asked for my pin twice. That's enough security.

Also, thank you for the update, I appreciate it! I guess, no other reports is a good thing, I hope that means there are Surface users out there who use Hello successfully, maybe I’ll find one eventually 🙂

If you're willing to send in a new diagnostics report to support+forum@1Password.com (include a link to this thread) then I can have that added to the issue and ping the team that you're still seeing the behaviour on the latest version of 1Password for Windows.

For the last year or two, Windows Hello login to 1P has worked fine for me. But since the last couple of weeks, I'm facing the same issue as SamSamSam. Also odd: after manually entering the password for 1P, the Windows Hello Prompt pops up.
I have now posted a diagnostic report.
