Does not play nicely with home assistant

I have a local https://www.home-assistant.io/ installation. That has a UI based on Polymer - see https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2016/05/18/why-we-use-polymer/

1Password - any version I have used over a few years - fails to be able to fill in the username/password in the login screen by any means other than drag and drop of values from the 1PasswordX UI or manual copy/paste.

I see that there is a related issue to this last year - https://1password.community/discussion/comment/554893#Comment_554893 - but this appers not to have resolved although its has been closed.

Any ways to make this work, or hints, or can it be added to the list of weird stuff that breaks 1Password :-)
