Feature Request: Android and SSH

Sometimes I want to login on my servers via my phone, but my SSH keys are stored in 1password.

I would want to use Termux and login on a server via the 1password agent connecting to the Android app.

I was coming here to post something very similar except for iOS instead. :) It'd be great to have some sort of 1Password SDK/library/whatever that third-party developers could hook into to allow my SSH key to remain securely within 1Password itself.

I use Blink myself and last year they were able to add support for Yubikeys, for example.

That has very recently been requested on the Blink discord as well.

Here’s the developer’s reaction:

We have been thinking about ways for this, but they all end up having to import the key in Blink.
And given how easy that already is, not sure it is worth putting more resources there.
But let us know if you have any ideas on how to improve there.

Would indeed be nice if both parties could come up with a solution!

(And then also for Working Copy)

What is Blink? What does it have to do with it?

Android SSH support

Is there any reason 1Password can't expose the same SSH functionality on Android that it already provides on desktop?

At the moment, if I want to SSH from my phone, I have to copy my private key into another app. That feels like a step backwards from a security perspective, since the whole point of storing my SSH keys in 1Password is to avoid having multiple copies of them.

It would be great if SSH clients on Android could authenticate using keys stored in 1Password, without ever needing access to the private key itself.

Is this something that's been considered, or is there a technical limitation that makes it impractical?

Hi @Anders0lesen, thanks for writing in.

The SSH agent’s existing integration does not translate directly to Android’s app model. To my knowledge it’s not outside the realm of possibility for our SSH agent to work with 1Password for Android, but it wouldn’t be a simple addition. I can’t say if this is something we will add, but I’ve shared your interest with the team.
