How often does the operator reconcile onepassworditems?

I've installed Connect Server and the operator in an EKS cluster and it works great. Secrets are created (have not yet tested updating)

However when I delete the secret created by the operator, it is not recreated. I tried
* waiting for the polling interval (600 / 10minutes)
* reducing the polling interval to 60 (and then waiting longer than that)

but the secret was not recreated.

I used https://external-secrets.io/latest/ in the past and when I deleted a secret it was immediately recreated by the operator. With 1password operator it does not seem to be the case? What am I missing?
