Mac client v8.10.80 released June 10 2025 is painfully slow

Since the 8.10.80 update on June 10th, the Mac app on Apple Silicon is painfully slow - the app takes around 30 seconds to respond when switching to it from another app, and when it starts responding, the UI response speed varies from immediate (i.e. normal) to upwards of 30 seconds again.

Switching to the Beta version currently available doesn't fix the problem.

Is there a way I can download older versions so I can roll back to try and see if an older version fixes this, please?

Hello @alexgreyhead1! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password is slow on your Mac. We've received other reports of this behaviour and, after investigating, it was found that customers who are running into recent performance issues with the 1Password for Mac desktop app were all using the Intel-based version of 1Password on an Apple Silicon Mac.

Our team can help verify that you're affected by this issue and then help you move over to the correct version. If you're not affected then they can investigate further. Please create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

Send a diagnostics report (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

Just to confirm - I'm running 8.10.78 on my other Mac - identical spec, identical hardware - and there are no performance issues.

Rolling back to the old version - by zipping up the 8.10.78 app directory from my "good" machine, deleting 8.10.80 and replacing it with ~.78, then removing all the app cache data per https://support.1password.com/uninstall-1password/?mac - has resolved the slowness.

While I don't recommend you use this on a production machine (because while this code will be signed, you can never be 100% sure it's not dodgy ;), you can get my copy of 8.10.78 here: [redacted]

I've removed the Google Drive link. For everyone's security and privacy, please don't post links to copies of 1Password outside of our official sources: https://1password.com/downloads/

I had the same problem. I reloaded 1P from the link and it is running smoothly.

I sent the diagnostics report as well. File was pretty big – 43MB. Hope you got it. I did get the auto reply from the bit bot -- support ticket ID is KGN-45414-262.

After submitting a diagnostics report, the following steps from 1PW support solved the problem for me:

Quit all open web browsers.
Completely close the 1Password app.
If you see the 1Password icon in the macOS menu bar, click on it and select Quit.
Drag 1Password from the Applications folder to the Trash. Do not use an "app cleaner" or "uninstaller" tool to remove the app or additional files. If prompted, enter the password you use to sign in to your Mac.
Restart your Mac.
Download the latest version of 1Password from the 1Password website:      https://1password.com/downloads/mac/
Quit any open web browsers and then install 1Password.
Open and unlock 1Password before opening your web browser.

now, System Info shows application Kind: "iOS" instead of "Intel" (attached screenshot -- though I had assumed it would be Universal or Apple Silicon). 1PW back to 'normal' speed -- yay!
