1Password 7 deprecation
I received an email stating that I'll need to upgrade to 1Password 8 by May 1st. I came here to register my disappointment not because I'm surprised, or that I think anything will come of it, but bec...

Hey skatch! 👋
I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Change isn’t always easy, and I get that moving to a new version can bring mixed feelings—especially if 1Password 7 was working well for you.
That said, I have to admit, I’m struggling to figure out exactly what’s frustrating you about 1Password 8. You mentioned “fundamental issues,” but didn't actually mention what those issues are, so it’s tough to know what’s actually getting in your way. If there’s something in particular that’s slowing you down, we’d love to hear about it. Otherwise, we’re left guessing—which isn’t particularly helpful for either of us. 😅
As for the deprecation, just to clear things up, this isn’t a blanket end-of-life for all versions of 1Password 7.
What’s being deprecated:- All versions of 1Password 6.
- Older versions of 1Password 7. Specifically, any version older than
- Windows: 7.9.836 (build 836)
- Mac (App Store): 7.9.11 (build 70911001)
- Mac (Direct Download): 7.9.11 (build 70911000)
- iOS: 7.10.2 (buid 71002000)
- Android: 7.9.4 (build 70904004)
This means that if you’re already on the latest version of 1Password 7, you’re still in a supported state, though we’d still recommend upgrading to 1Password 8 for ongoing security and performance improvements.

At present, the 'System Requirements' page ( https://support.1password.com/kb/202505/) has confusing verbiage. Both the title and body text say:
...older versions of 1Password 7 are no longer supported...
Which implies that there ARE currently supported versions of 1Password 7
...
You’re affected if you use an older version of 1Password, such as:
...
1Password for Windows: 7.9.836 or earlier
1Password for Mac (App Store): 7.9.11 or earlier
Which also implies that there are supported versions of 7. However, the versions listed appear to be the most recent available for download from https://app-updates.agilebits.com/ .
1P_Blake can you please clarify:
- Do the versions listed above receive security updates even though they are not 'supported'?
- Are there newer versions of 7 than listed above?
- If the answer both (1) and (2) is 'no', does the requirements page need to be updated to simply say e.g. "1Password 7 is no longer supported"?
Thanks.

2 months ago1Password 7 is no longer being actively updated, worked on, or tested with new versions of operating systems. For example, the last update to 1Password 7 for Mac was released in July 2023, over two years ago.
Versions older than those in Blake's post will no longer sync with, or connect to, your 1Password.com account. While you may be able to continue to use the listed versions, we recommend that you upgrade to 1Password 8 going forward: Upgrade to 1Password 8
Thank you for the feedback regarding the KB article, I've passed this along to our technical writing team internally.
