1Password extension in Safari requires FULL password

I am running 1Password 8.12.5 on a Mac running Tahoe 26.2 and I have not had this problem in the past. And I do know my password for entry into 1Password. But now when I open Safari and seek to use the extension in Safari it requires me to put it in the full 1Password password, I can't use my fingertip or my eyes or whatever. As far as I know, I've set up everything to allow me to use my fingertip on my computer to have access to things and everything else seems to be working, but the extension for 1Password is not. Thank you for any wisdom

[I have deleted the extension and even 1PW - and then reinstalled both.  Still going on]. And settings in Mac is set up to use Touch ID

I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working to unlock 1Password for Safari on your Mac. As a first step, can you confirm that you're still able to unlock the Mac itself using your fingerprint? If you can then try these steps for 1Password in Safari: 

  1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
  2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Browser.
  5. Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.
  6. Open Safari.
  7. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
  8. Turn "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" off and then back on.


If that still doesn't work then do you see a green dot in the browser settings page under General? Or a different coloured dot and an error message? I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks so much -- I checked everything and restarted and, so far, it's all working.  I'll use Safari and 1Password a bit today and make sure.  I appreciate the guidance.
