1Password for Mac crashes when scanning QR Code

Hi,

1Password for Mac 8.10.70 (81070026) crashes when I try to scan a 2FA QR Code.

I’ve tried to remove the app and add it again to the list of app allowed to record screen, and also completely removed the app using AppCleaner and reinstalled it but the error is still here. I’ve sent many crash reports.

Thank you.

1P_Daveit seems that restarting my computer fixed the issue... 🤷‍♂️

I'm happy that restarting your Mac got things working again. If the issue does come back then let us know.

  • Hello Tcheuck! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password for Mac is crashing when you try to scan a 2FA QR code. I've tried to reproduce the issue on my end and I'm not running into the issue. Here's what I'm doing:

    1. Open Chrome.
    2. Navigate to a website's security page until I see the 2FA QR code.
    3. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
    4. Edit the appropriate Login item and then click add more > One-Time Password.
    5. Click the scan QR code button.
    6. Save the item.

Can you tell me if your steps are the same? If they are then can you also tell me which browser you're using and which version of macOS you're currently running?

also completely removed the app using AppCleaner and reinstalled it

In general, I don't recommend using app cleaners to remove 1Password since they can cause issues if they only remove some files and not others. It's likely not related here but I did want to make that note. We have an uninstall guide here
