1PASSWORD GENERATED PASSWORD IN FACEBOOK

Hi! I have been going website by website through my Bookmarks to add them into 1Password and then to update my old, weak passwords to new, strong ones by having 1Password randomly generate the new one. On some sites this is fast and easy and on others not so much. Anyhow, I followed this procedure for Facebook and it worked fine yesterday. Today, when using 1Password autofill Facebook says it is an incorrect password. I can't log into Facebook and apparently there is no "live" support available. Two question: 1. Can anyone help me with this Facebook sign-in problem? 2. Does this kind of thing (a randomly generated 1Password password works at first but then doesn't) happen often? Thank you in advance.

    Hi WaynePA17​! Thanks for writing in. I'm sorry to hear there was some trouble updating your Facebook password. 

    To answer your second question first, hiccups updating a password aren't entirely unheard of, but a password being accepted by a website then later rejected is not something I recall coming across myself. 

    For your first question there are a few options to check but ultimately the quickest might just be the forgot password route. From Facebook's login screen you can click "Forgot password?", then enter the email address you use with Facebook. From there you should receive an email allowing you to update your password. 

    If you'd like to check some other options first, here's what I would recommend starting with:

    • In the 1Password app, search for "Facebook" to check if you might have multiple Facebook items for the same account. If you do, try signing in with the password for each. 
    • Open your Facebook item in the 1Password app (this won't be available in the extension). Hover your mouse over the password field then select "View password history" from the dropdown menu (⌄). If this option appears, try signing into Facebook with the older passwords.
