Add intelligent deduplication during import process
In the last couple months, I have helped over half a dozen clients migrate their passwords from browsers to 1Password. In doing so, I have found that when exporting from a browser to CSV, each record that contains multiple URLs is broken apart into separate records. As a result, when importing to 1Password, a ton of manual cleanup is required. Sadly, the app lacks an easy way to complete this.
It would be nice if 1Password included an easier ability to discover duplicates, separate from Watchtower's Reused Passwords section. However, as 1Password is capable of storing login records with multiple URLs, the app should be intelligent enough to recognize and unify such rows in a CSV import. Please add a capability.
This would save users lots of time and might also prevent some of them from being discouraged about making the switch in the first place. It shouldn't be so tedious to transition from browser-based password management to 1Password.

While I still think a merge tool or merge on import process would be valuable, it might be the case that this feature is less needed when Apple OS 26 brings E2EE cross-platform password, code, and passkey migration. https://9to5mac.com/2025/06/13/ios-26-passkeys-password-transfer/
In the short term (until a merge tool or process arrives), I will probably encourage new 1Password users to clean up their browser login exports in a spreadsheet first and then import to 1Password. All the cleanup they're forced to do in 1Password is extremely tedious and leads them to doubt that they will ultimately fall in love with the product — even though they usually do eventually.

We don't currently have plans for a merge feature, but...
and Marge[sic] items feature? to which 1P_Dave responded,
We do have an open feature request for a tool that would allow users to merge items and...
from three years ago, along with other related requests. This would be a most useful feature and offering to run it at import time could be an ideal time.
