Allow MSP/MSSP to sell Family Licenses
As it stands, the only licensing tier available for MSPs and MSSPs to offer customers is the Business/Enterprise option. I'd love to see 1Password expand this to include Personal and Family plan options — even if implemented as a lightweight affiliate or referral link integrated directly into the MSP portal.
I've been a strong advocate for 1Password for over 15 years. With data breaches becoming increasingly frequent, I regularly find myself advising friends and family to adopt a password manager — yet there's currently no clean way to facilitate that through my existing partner relationship.
On the business side, our onboarding and licensing workflows are excellent. The gap is on the consumer side. I'm aware that a consumer affiliate program exists through CJ Affiliate, but it's not a practical solution for this use case — it requires a tax ID, carries a high participation threshold, and operates completely separately from the MSP portal. It's designed for content creators and influencers, not for MSPs making trusted, personal referrals to friends, family, and clients outside of a managed business relationship.
What I'm requesting is something much simpler: a referral link or discount code generated directly from the MSP portal for Personal and Family plans -- essentially increasing the types of licenses that we are able to sell. A more robust implementation might include a dedicated sidebar section beneath Managed Companies (e.g., Personal/Family Licenses) for tracking consumer accounts we've helped onboard.
From my experience, the 1Password Partner portal is similarly limited to Business and Enterprise licensing, so this appears to be a gap across both the MSP and Partner programs.
This would be a win across the board. It gives partners a new revenue stream, helps get more people onto a product I genuinely believe in, and could actually drive new business customers to 1Password. Someone who signs up for a Personal or Family plan through our MSP might love it enough to bring it back to their company — that's a potential business customer who arrived already sold on the product, and a new managed client for the MSP. Everybody wins!
