Dragging from app hides and disables app window
Hello,
I was having some trouble entering credentials in various ways on a particular website, so I decided to try dragging the credentials from the 1Password main application window into the fields on the browser's page. This technique breaks the 1Password application. The bug can be reproduced without any browser's involvement at all:
At the start of the drag, the window immediately disappears. If you abort with escape, the window returns. If you finish the drop, the window is permanently gone. You have to restart the application to have it return.
The bug is consistent and reproducible on my two mac's. One is running Tahoe 26.2 and one is running Sequoia 15.72. Both using 1Password 8.11.22.
Thanks

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you Baz .
Hope you don't mind me jumping in while my colleague is away.
You're right that the 1Password desktop app should come back into focus after dragging and dropping info into another app.
We have a known issue where the 1Password desktop app doesn't come back into focus after dragging and dropping in certain apps such as the Chrome browser. However, we haven't received any reports of users being unable to switch back to the desktop app using the 'command + tab' keyboard shortcut or by clicking the 1Password icon in their dock.
I can see that we've released an update for the desktop app since you initially wrote in and so I'd like to ask you to see if the issue still occurs with the latest version which is 8.12.0:

Since I'm unable to replicate the behaviour you described, I'd like to ask you to create and share a screen recording of the issue if updating the desktop app doesn't help:

Make sure that the screen recording doesn't contain anything sensitive and don't post it to the forum, I can send you a secure upload link to use. When the recording is ready please send an email to support@1password.com.

Thanks,
The issue persists with 8.12.0. I've just now reproduced it on Sequoia and Tahoe.
Certainly I first experienced the bug working in some browser; perhaps it was Chrome. Subsequent to that, I've just continued confirming the issue by simply dragging and dropping onto the desktop. The bug occurs when I do that. Just now I tested and noticed that some application targets help; dropping into TextEdit does cause 1Password to reappear.
Cmd-tab does not restore 1Password. Clicking on the icon in the dock does. The icon in the dock is not that of a minimized window, but rather the icon representing the running application. If not mentioned in this thread, it would not have occurred to me that clicking on the application's icon would have restored the missing window.
I will follow through with the screen recording. I will demonstrate the failure by just dragging onto the desktop. Then the recording will show me using Cmd-tab to switch away from 1Password and then back to it. At no point will the 1Password window return.
Thanks for your help. I'll be in touch.

Would someone be able to confirm that they have the same issue as I do? Simply drag a username from the application window drop it on the desktop. Does the window disappear and not return?

I have discovered one workaround. The application assigns keyboard shortcuts to collections, in alphabetical order. Any of those keyboard shortcuts brings the window back.
Could someone confirm they see this bug please? I will write support directly if I don't get that confirmation, since there could be something wrong with my installation that I should address.
