Question

How do I create a new one-time password from a QR Code in 1Password 8?

In 1Password 7, I can scan a QR Code to generate an OTP. That seems missing in 1Password 8.

When can I expect this functionality to return?

1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.5.0 (80500017)
Extension Version: 2.1.4
OS Version: macOS 12.0.1 (21A559)

I've been missing this functionality as well. Had to copy/paste the Secret Key. I would love to be able to use QR codes again.

Hi @"Chris Messina" & @KyleRuder !

As a workaround, just use 1Password in the browser to scan a specific QR-Code from a website. This works like a charm. :)

@DenalB ,that is a great thought. Thanks for sharing!

Hey @"Chris Messina" and @KyleRuder:

As @DenalB mentioned, using 1Password in the browser would be your best bet. Thanks for the assist here!

Ah ha! Why is the button to access that menu item missing from the OTP field? That's extremely hidden — and it was there before!

@"Chris Messina":

I think that is because the QR code scanning feature has not been implemented in 1Password 8 yet, it will be back once our developers have had the chance to add it :+1:

I miss this feature within 1Password 8 as well.

Me too @viswiz, I hope our developers will be able to add it back soon :+1: In the meantime, I hope that the workaround with the browser extension will help you too :)
