insecure system D-Bus detected (BinaryPermissions) on Void Linux

Hi,
I'm trying to get system auth working on Void Linux, but I constantly get those errors

INFO 2024-12-09T19:29:05.979+00:00 runtime-worker(ThreadId(16)) [1P:app/op-app/src/app/backend/auth_prompt.rs:48] invoked auth prompt unlock

ERROR 2024-12-09T19:29:05.980+00:00 runtime-worker(ThreadId(26)) [1P:foundation/op-system-auth/src/linux.rs:226] insecure system D-Bus detected (BinaryPermissions)! Ignoring the current PolKit interface instead

I did try to manually change permissions for system dbus and its directory with no luck, do you have any ideas what else should I check or change to make it work? I find fingerprint unlock in public not only more convenient, but also more secure, as nobody can see my password then.

  • Hello fuzzyhome7026 and nmaupu! πŸ‘‹

Thank you for reaching out and I'm sorry for the delay in replying. In regards to system authentication for Linux, 1Password works with systemd and does not support other frameworks. There might also be other differences in other versions of Linux (such as Guix and Void) that prevent 1Password from functioning as expected. You can find our list of supported Linux distributions here: System Requirements

While we only support a limited number of Linux distributions, the team can try to help as much as possible. I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Linux device:

    Send a diagnostics report (Linux)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

    With your email please include:

    • A link to this thread: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/insecure-system-d-bus-detected-binarypermissions-on-void-linux/110519
    • Your forum username: username

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here.  Thanks very much!

I attached the diagnostic by email but I didn't receive any mail from the bot yet. I'll let you know as soon as I received the number!

Thank you! I see that you've discussed the situation with my colleague over email, if you have any other questions then please continue the conversation there.

    Hi,

I have the same problem under Guix. Did you find a way to fix this ?
