Based on what you've said, I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that you're using a 1Password Business or Teams account. If that's the case, you can invite the external user as a Guest: Share with guests in your team

(1Password Families accounts also support guests: Share with guests in 1Password Families)

You could add whatever items they need to a specific vault, then share only that vault with them. Then, when they don't need those items any more, you can revoke their access to that vault or completely remove them as a Guest.

If you're thinking of something else, let me know what you're aiming to achieve in as much detail as you can and I'll help you work towards a solution. :)

Thank you for the quick response!!! And yes we are using 1Password inside our business. But what you're proposing similar some what I'm trying to prevent. The basic functionality I need is just sending a secret (via an email link) in a secure way, without creating a (guest) account or storing the secret in an existing vault and sharing it afterwards). To my knowledge tools like BitWarden or WeTransfer have such a functionality ;-o

Our item sharing feature will do this. You can choose an item that you have in 1Password, and generate a link to a shared copy of it which you can then send to someone. You can place limits on number of views, time expiry, and email address. There's more information about that here:

To share an item with someone, the item must first exist in a vault that you control, even if you delete the item from that vault after you've shared it (the shared copy will still be accessible from that link, depending on the conditions you've set for it).

That way, you can send items to anyone, even if they don't use 1Password, without having to set up guests or create any new vaults.

Give it a try and let me know how it works for you. As an example, here's a test item I've just created, which I've shared as a link:

Item sharing links can be revoked before they expire automatically after the timescale you choose.
