Mac OS 15.2 Sequoia AutoFill and Passwords not showing 1password

Question

Hi Everyone,

I am experiencing and issue after switching to a new Mac.

I have installed a fresh version of 1Password from the 1Password website, but 1Password as an app is not showing in Settings under Autofill and Passwords??

I cannot change 'Autofill from' and choose 1Password. This is causing havoc when trying to log in or use passkeys as the Apple Password app keeps popping up!

I have googled the issue and I can see other individuals experiencing the same problems but have no way of resolving the issue.

Can anyone help, please?

Thank you for reaching out. 1Password doesn't use the "Autofill &amp; Passwords" feature in macOS System Settings so you won't see it listed there. Instead you can fill and save logins using either 1Password in the browser (our browser extension) or using Universal Autofill:

Use Universal Autofill in apps and browsers on your Mac
Get to know 1Password in your browser

If you don't see 1Password in Safari then try the steps in this article: If you don't see the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar

Make sure to turn off the built-in password manager in your browser. Let me know if that doesn't work. 🙂

Is there any specific reason that 1password is not and will not be supporting this feature?

Welcome to the community! 1Password doesn't currently support the macOS filling feature because the team is focused on supporting the existing two filling methods (mentioned in my post above).&nbsp;
That being said, I can definitely file a feature request on your behalf as well to have the team look into support macOS AutoFill in the future. Can you tell me a little more about where the existing methods (1Password in the browser and Universal Autofill) fall short for your needs?&nbsp;

Yes, this seems odd to me because the functionality that doesn't exist on macOS 15 (Sequoia) exists on iOS 18.&nbsp; &nbsp;Next, I agree with&nbsp;gswhite​ &nbsp;that this causes havoc on macOS because it can only autofill passkeys from the Passwords app when authenticating with Amazon.&nbsp; Furthermore, this Autofill &amp; Passwords integration isn't just for website auth but can also be used for auth on native applications.If I click the blue button, it will take me to the System Settings' Autofill &amp; Passwords screen on macOS 15 Sequoia.In short, this needs to get resolved for macOS to be functionally aligned with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

Thank you for the feedback! iOS/iPadOS is more locked down than macOS is and iOS AutoFill is usually the only filling method available in apps/browses (aside from Safari which does support extension on iPhone/iPad). macOS, on the other hand, is a full-featured desktop operating system where we're able to release a browser extension for all major browsers as well as support Universal Autofill to fill into other apps.&nbsp;
That being said, I'll certainly pass your suggestions along to the team internally.&nbsp;

That doesn't sound right. I recommend that you turn off "AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys" in macOS settings and then also make sure that the built-in password manager is turned off in all of your browsers:&nbsp;

Let me know if you still see the issue on Amazon after you try these steps.&nbsp;
