prevent e-mail suggestions in Chrome & Safari

In Safari (my main browser) and in Chrome, but not in FF, 1P suggests email-addresses (coming from stored login-id's, I presume) when I'm filling in a simple form (e.g. to subscribe to a newsletter). Even if I don't have an actual account on the given site (but then I get the 'No suggestions to show' message, obviously)

This makes the UX in Safari and Chrome not ideal: The 1P drop-down covers the next field below the email-address field, and the drop-down isn't always easily "closed", so I find myself fumbling with the mouse-pointer, tab-keys... to finish the otherwise easy enough job to fill in the form. Anyways: suggesting email-addresses makes no sense with this use case. The FF extension seems smarter in its logic and doesn't offer logins when it doesn't recognise the form as a login-form.

Can I fix the behaviour in Safari myself, so that 1P behaves in FF, as described?

    OK. What about the difference in UX between Firefox on the one hand, and Safari and Chrome on the other hand. I know how to disable the inline menu. I believe it should not appear when I'm not dealing with a login form. In FF, this works as expected. Not in the other two.

    Have you at least tried to reproduce the issue, based on my descriptions?

    Hi itp,

    You should be able to hide the inline menu by clicking the 1Password icon on the right-hand end of the form field, as in this example from CNN like you mentioned:

    If you find the inline menu is in the way on a form, you can toggle it on and off by clicking there. It's also worth making sure that the built-in password manager in your browser isn't getting in the way of things:

    ☞ Turn off the built-in password manager in a browser on multiple computers

    Give those things a try – I hope they help.
