This happens in Safari often enough to be annoying but not every time. I disabled the Safari setting for Auto fill web forms: User names and passwords but then I found I couldn't use my 1Password passkeys (for some reason). How do I prevent this kind of collision?
Ok, here's what happens when my 1Password browser extension is locked and I need to use a passkey when I have the "Usernames and passwords" option we mentioned un-checked:
I suppose now that I understand that unlocking the 1Password extension will fix that I can live a full and exciting life, but I guess I would have expected to be prompted to unlock 1Password as would happen if I were going to use a password instead of a passkey.
Am I missing something?

ModeratorI'm sorry that you're running into issues when signing in using a passkey saved in 1Password. I suspect that you're running into a known issue where 1Password for Safari can timeout and pass the passkey request along to macOS.

In which "timeout" can be less than 1 second! I guess thanks Dave for admitting the truth that our business support is unwilling to be honest with us.

The "Usernames and passwords" option has to be turned off in order to avoid conflicts with the built-in password manager.
You did say that you ran into issues with passkeys when that option was turned off before and that definitely isn't right. Are your passkeys saved in 1Password? Thanks. I'll disable the last checkbox in Safari/Mac settings and report back if I have passkey issues. It was a while ago, so I don't recall the issue. But yes, I save passkeys in 1Password.
