Some lines in item Notes are missing (on iPhone)

I'm seeing an intermittent problem in 1P 8.10.68 running on iOS 18.3.2 and 18.4 (iPhone).  Based on my search here, it seems the same problem was identified and fixed in 1P 7.8.3.

In vault items having multi-line notes, some of the last several lines don't show up when viewing the item.  While it seems the problem happens when some of the notes' lines have Markdown heading formats, I can't ascertain any particular pattern as to when the problem occurs.

Sometimes I'll bring up the item and the last few lines don't show.  I'll exit back to the item list, go back in to the item, and now all lines are displayed.  Or the reverse can happen, where the first viewing is fine and the second one hides several lines.  Or sometimes it takes many views before the problem crops up -- like I said, no particular pattern.

While replicating the problem to capture the below screenshots, it seems to be the case that doing an iPhone screen capture consistently unhides the missing lines.  So sure, this is a workaround, but no one wants to populate their photo album with 1P item screenshots.

This time, some lines are missing (after Favorite actress):

This time they're all shown:

Thank you for those details! I've been able to (very intermittently) reproduce the issue here on my end and a bug report has been filed with our development team so that we can get this fixed in a future version of 1Password. For the time being, the best workarounds are:

    1. Keep markdown turned off, I've only been able to reproduce the issue when markdown is turned on.
    2. When the issue occurs, navigate back to the item list and then tap on the item again. The note should render correctly until the next time that the issue occurs. You might have to do this more than once.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience that the issue is causing. Thank you again for taking the time to report the bug to us.

    1. Yes, as far as I can tell, it only happens when Markdown is turned ON.
    2. 8.10.68 was the version available when I first downloaded and installed 1P on my iPhone.  So I didn't have the opportunity to see earlier versions.
    3. See below for a screenshot showing (part of) the Notes section for the test item (with fake data) I showed in my original post.  You will notice that the "Dream job" and "line 6" lines are visible in the EDIT viewport -- these were the first 2 missing lines shown in my original post above.

  • Hello 1Canid and MerryBit! 👋

I'm sorry that you're seeing notes get truncated intermittently in 1Password on your iPhone. So that I can better understand the situation, can you tell me the following:

    1. Does the issue only occur when markdown is turned on
    2. Did the issue start happening with 8.10.68? Or did you see it in previous versions as well?
    3. Are you able to provide a screenshot of the missing section as seen when editing the item? That would help me to reproduce the issue. Make sure that nothing sensitive is visible in the screenshot.

I look forward to hearing from you.
