Why we built the new 1Password Community
Inspired by all the incredible feedback we’ve received from our members, we’ve rebuilt 1Password Community from the ground up as a vibrant hub where you can connect with other users, get expert advice, and help shape the future of 1Password. Whether you're securing your family's digital life, managing enterprise deployments, or building integrations, there's a space for you here.
During a recent fireside chat, Founder Sara Teare and co-CEO Jeff Shiner reflected on how our community has shaped 1Password since day one. If you couldn’t attend live, read on for the highlights and to learn why you should be a part of the new 1Password Community.
1. 1Password has always been driven by the community.
When 1Password was first created, Founders Dave Teare and Roustem Karimov shared their app on the tech forums of the time. Early adopters responded with improvements, which Dave and Roustem implemented as quickly as possible. Each new version elicited more feedback and improved 1Password over time.
“That virtuous cycle with the [community’s] feedback was how everything got started. It’s where we began with our product journey here at 1Password,”
— Sara Teare, Co-founder of 1Password
That spirit of collaboration between users and developers remains at the heart of what we do, even as we've grown from a two-person project to a global security company. When you participate in 1Password Community, you continue that tradition of community shaping our products.
2. Get direct access to the 1Password team
We’ve all dealt with tech companies that seem like black boxes you can’t communicate with. At 1Password, we love getting to know you and learn from you. You have great ideas and the more we hear from you the better we can make 1Password.
Join our regular AMAs and fireside chats to get early insights into upcoming features, share your thoughts directly with our product team, and learn advanced tips from our security experts. You'll find 1Password team members actively participating in discussions, answering questions, and gathering feedback across the community.
“One time, Jeannie [De Guzman, 1Password COO] and I were at a conference in San Francisco. We were walking down the hallway in a hotel and this couple came up to us and were gushing because they saw our 1Password shirts on. They were like, “Man, our whole life is in 1Password.” And then they told us about how they organize their whole lives. It's those moments that I think about the most,”
— Jeff Shiner, Co-CEO of 1Password
3. Help build the future of 1Password
Do you have an idea for a new feature or want to see an improvement to an existing one? The new community makes it easy to share your suggestions and see them gain traction. Simply tag your post as a Feature Request and it’ll reach our product team.
When you share an idea in 1Password Community, others can upvote it, add their use cases, and help refine the concept. This gives us invaluable insight into which features would make the biggest impact. Many of 1Password's most popular features were inspired by community requests.
“It's about building [1Password] for people. The more you listen to those people, the more they'll tell you the parts they like and the parts they don't,”
— Sara Teare, Co-founder of 1Password
4. Tap into a network of 1Password experts.
1Password Community brings together security professionals, IT administrators, developers, and the millions of others who've discovered clever ways to use 1Password.

- Are you an administrator for a small or large business? You’re going to fit right in.
Learn how others are using features in ways you hadn't considered — from creative uses of Secure Notes to advanced automation techniques. Community members share new workflows and tips daily that help others get more value from 1Password.
“Thanks to our community, I’m always learning different ways of doing things with 1Password that I hadn't thought about before,”
— Jeff Shiner, Co-CEO of 1Password
5. Find answers faster
We’ve built a sizable collection of resources over the years, but we haven’t given you a central place to access them – until now. The new community serves as a searchable knowledge hub, bringing together our extensive collection of guides, tutorials, and user-contributed solutions. And if you can't find what you're looking for, post a request – we're constantly expanding our resources based on community needs.
Business users will find detailed documentation on advanced features like Extended Access Management, real-world implementation stories, and best practices shared by other organizations.
“I just want to understand how to do X with 1Password. I don't want to write an email or talk to people. I just want to get it answered. That's why I love the community because I can just go there and find the answer,"
— Jeff Shiner, Co-CEO of 1Password
“That's the reason why we want to have this centralized hub because it's not just somewhere you can ask questions, it's also where you can find those resources and access information,"
— Sara Teare, Co-founder of 1Password
6. Join a community of security-minded professionals
Bringing together thousands of 1Password users in one place is a powerful thing. Many of you have interest and expertise in cybersecurity and we invite you all to discuss those topics in the 1Password Community – even if they’re unrelated to 1Password. Share best practices and interesting articles you’ve found or ask questions on how to improve your own or your business’s security. In the 1Password Community, you’ll find like-minded people who share your interest in security.
“Not only can you go to specific parts [of the community] that pertain to you, but you can then go and talk to like-minded people. That's so, so valuable,”
— Jeff Shiner, Co-CEO of 1Password
