Business Product Updates: July 2026
Right now, leaders in every department at every company are all facing the same challenge: finding the AI “Goldilocks zone.” Everyone is trying to aggressively deploy AI, without just burning tokens for their own sake. Likewise, we need to implement security measures that keep AI from running wild, without putting up roadblocks that slow innovation.
At 1Password, we’re grappling with these questions too, and we’re also working hard on the answers. In this newsletter you’ll see some of our latest developments to help secure AI usage and manage AI spend. We hope you find it helpful and that it helps spur conversations at your own organization.
Get control of AI spend: A conversation with 1Password’s CFO and Global Advisory CISO

AI token costs are catching finance and IT leaders off guard. Join 1Password's CFO and Global Advisory CISO for a candid conversation about the AI governance and budget challenge and what to do about it.
Will your teams be at Black Hat? Visit 1Password’s booth

If you're going to Black Hat this year, check out 1Password at booth 4735 (Mandalay Bay, August 1-6). We’re debuting new developer tools around credential discovery, pipeline security, and AI agent access, and running a live terminal competition called "Operation: Harden the Build" with prizes.
Before you go, run Developer Watchtower to scan your machine for exposed credentials and vault what it finds. Share your Watchtower score at the booth to claim a prize on the spot.
Do you know every app your team is using?
52% of employees have downloaded apps without IT approval. Our guide, How to get started with SaaS management, gives you a four-step framework to map your SaaS landscape, close access gaps, and get ahead of shadow AI before it becomes a bigger problem.
Product updates
AI Spend & Consumption Management
AI token bills are blowing past forecasts by 10x, 20x, even 100x, and most teams don’t find out until the invoice lands. AI Spend and Consumption Management in 1Password SaaS Manager gives IT and finance a single, cross-vendor view of AI spend across Cursor, Claude, and OpenAI, with budget thresholds, burn rate tracking, and spend attribution by team, user, and model. Now in Public Preview for every SaaS Manager customer.
Enable Claude for your teams without exposing credentials
AI agents are helping employees get more done, but when they reach a login page, security and productivity often come into conflict.
That's why we worked with Anthropic to introduce 1Password for Claude. Employees can complete browser tasks that require logins and one-time passcodes while credentials stay encrypted in 1Password.
With the integration, you can:
- Keep passwords and one-time codes out of the AI model's context
- Require user approval for every credential request to an AI agent
- Protect employee vaults with Agentic Mode
- Control rollout with an admin policy to disable the feature
Email Change Report for Hosted Provisioning
Admins on Hosted Provisioning now have full visibility into pending email changes in the Admin Console. When your IdP pushes a new email, 1Password waits for the user to verify it, so their 1Password email can briefly differ from your IdP. That gap used to be invisible, driving audit confusion and support tickets.
The new Email Change Report shows each affected user, their current and proposed addresses, and when the change started. It's searchable, sortable, and exportable to CSV.
