Community Account Deleted?

Hopefully I chose the correct Category for this….

I went to sign into my long-standing AgileBits 1Password Community account and found it didn’t exist anymore. I created a new account but...I feel a little sad that my Community account - which I have had since at least 2021 and had some history - is now gone.

Is there a recovery process? Is there a “transfer process” that I missed, or did we all just start fresh?

I used the same email address as before, and it created a new/fresh profile, so I’m assuming all of my previous history is gone?

Thanks!

Hey @Amarand! You picked the right category! 🙂

We’ve actually moved the 1Password Community twice over the past couple of years. The most recent move was in July of this year, and accounts that existed on our previous Community platform were carried over automatically. Based on what you’re describing, though, I suspect your original account didn’t make it through our earlier migration in February 2025.

For that earlier migration, Community accounts were only carried over if they’d been signed in to within the previous 12 months. We also brought over posts and replies from the previous three years rather than the entire history of the old Community. So if it had been a while since you’d signed in at that point, your account wouldn’t have made that transition. If it had, it would’ve automatically come along with us again when we moved platforms this July.

Unfortunately there isn’t a way for us to recover that old profile or reconnect its history to the new account you’ve created. Some of your more recent posts may still be floating around here under an anonymized account, though. If you remember the title or body of what you had posted, or even roughly what the discussion was about, there’s a decent chance we can find it.

I know that’s probably not what you were hoping to hear after coming back to an account you’d had for years. You’re all set with the new account you created, though, and of course you’re more than welcome to keep using that one from here!

No problem! I guess the lesson of this story is: sign into the 1Password Community semi-regularly. 😹
