iOS 26.2 AutoSave Incorporation Possibility?

Recently, other password managers like NordPass have https://nordpass.com/blog/nordpass-ios-update-notes/#nordpass-4101-latest, which acts the same way the 1Password Browser Extension does, where it automatically saves login info upon logging into an app or website.

In theory, 1Password should be able to mimic this capability, correct?

It's only available on iOS 26.2 and above, but this capability SHOULD make the hassle of saving passwords & logins on iOS & iPadOS practically non-existent.

I've seen that in the https://releases.1password.com/ios/beta/#1password-for-ios-8.12.6-31, there was a patch note that read...

It’s now easier to generate and save passwords when you use Autofill.

...but that doesn't specify whether autosave is incorporated yet or not, and the Testflight beta is at full capacity, so I wanted to see if I could possibly get some clarification.

Apparently my links have bugged out, so I have re-posted them below.

Bumping; this is the one gripe I have with 1Password and it’s now solvable, so hopefully it can be worked on or released soon.

Bumping due to an apparent addition to the iOS app with no notification of that change being made in the release notes.

Does anyone know if this has actually been added to the iOS app, or am I mixing it up with the Safari extension somehow?
I'll upload an image in a moment of a popup I'm seeing that makes me think it's the iOS app and not the Safari extension.

Hello @Etsef! 👋

I'm sorry for the delay in responding! iOS 26 introduced enhancements to AutoFill, including support for strong password generation. This allows 1Password to integrate more deeply with iOS, enabling features like creating strong passwords and saving them directly to 1Password.

1Password now supports the ability to generate strong passwords, and save them to your vault, using iOS AutoFill starting with version 8.12.10.

You can read more about the feature here. We're planning to release a fuller announcement in the future.

I think you misunderstood.

I’m not talking about automatic password generation; I’m talking about autoSAVE, where a password is automatically saved to 1Password when it’s used or created on iOS. This wasn’t possible until the iOS 26.2 update, but the same applied for randomized secure passwords; they both came out at the same time.

I’m specifically interested in password autoSAVE, not password autoGEN.

I've seen the update; it works pretty well, except for ONE hiccup.

Whenever I'm logging into a site I already have a password for, it seems to enjoy asking if I want to save it, despite already having it saved.
Whenever I click "Save", it prompts me to create a new login item, but it DOESN'T show the existing login items to update; it says "No Items Available".

I'm thinking there could maybe be an option to add the login to an item that isn't listed in that list; perhaps one that says something along the lines of "Choose Other Item" and allows you to search through your vault to find an item that wasn't automatically chosen.
I feel like that's the only real "gripe" I have with the Autosave functionality, so I believe this would make the Autosave and Autofill experience much more seamless and easy to use instead of trying to guess why certain websites don't save passwords when they should already be saved.
