Vault Access

Apologies if this is a very basic question. We have a family sharing account with 5 members, each with access to their own vaults etc. We have 3 family organisers, myself, my husband and 1 adult child. Question: If my husband and I die together, how do the 3 remaining family members access my private vault if /when I die?  What system should I set up in  1P up so that they CAN access currently private info after I have shuffled off this mortal coil? Thanks!

Not a basic question at all. What you should do is ensure one of your trusted relatives has access to either your restore keys OR the properly enveloped and secured 'print this' emergency kit you created for your account. Using either of those they can 'grant' themselves access as being you. Does that help? Same applies to others, since that would be the only way to access an individual persons personal vault. So you shouldn't have to set up anything, other than the recommended printed emergency kit in the first place :)

Hi @levijaya,

As usual, @Tom has good advice!

I'll just add that we recently published a guide to digital estate planning that has advice for 1Password specifically, but also covers digital estate planning more broadly. If you're thinking about this topic, you might find some helpful information there.

Thanks Simon, I did read the guide which was also helpful and I’m just trying to second guess every eventuality. Thank you!
