We've moved the 1Password Community to a new platform, and everything's open again. Jump in, ask questions, and connect.

We're still settling in, so if you spot anything amiss, let us know and we'll sort it out!

Why is How are you using 1Password products? (Private) in my profile required?

Unless I answer this with one of the four provided responses which may be untrue now, or after a future change, I am prevented from updating my profile.

Not sure if I didn't catch it, but I read the heads-up on the move, but not it's finalisation and ‘please reset your account, we're done with the awesome move’. Given couple of weeks  is not a lot to catch back up, but potentially losing another fair bunch of the community could be a thing? Especially since it’s recreational season in Europe these months.

Nice to see you Tom, and thanks for the feedback. Reintroduction comms are on our radar, but there are a few considerations there including timing around summer holidays.

I can’t see any place to change email address. https://www.1password.community/settings/email is found but shows the password page.

Hi @roy_orbison! There isn’t an option to change your email from your profile, but we can help from the backend. If you send a message to community@1password.com we can get that process started.

A couple of more requests …

  1. Sort By settings in a thread should be saved. At a minimum let it be a default one can set in their profile.
  2. Dark Mode … please and thank you.

For how long will we be silenced and judged with Your post has been submitted. It will be published after a review by our moderators.?

I’ve posted 31 topics, five of which have been on the new platform, along with hundreds of replies over several years. While I could be running some oddly motivated long con, I would expect to be unmoderated by now. While I presume that this moderation applies equally to all of us, that might not be the case.

Not a problem with the new platform, but how 1Password staff are continuing to create a situation in which the Community is prevented from both giving and finding answers due to This topic has been closed for replies.*

What should happen

  1. The Community member posts a question or problem which other members may encounter, then contacts support.
  2. Other members who have answers or suggestions reply with their insights
  3. The poster follows up with the answer or solution which worked for them, or the lack thereof, from Support and/or the Community
  4. Members who search for and find this post get value from it.
  5. The Community is increasingly valuable.

What happens now

  1. The Community member posts a question or problem which other members may encounter, then contacts support.
  2. @1P_Community staff respond concerning contacting Support, not the poster’s issue, then close the thread.
  3. Other members who have answers or suggestions cannot reply with their insights.
  4. The poster cannot follow up with the answer or solution which worked for them, or the lack thereof.
  5. Members who search for and find this post get nothing but frustration.
  6. The Community is increasingly polluted.

The potential problems related to members simultaneously addressing their issue both here in the Community and with Support via email, are - at worst - minor, with better solutions in each case.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, @AJCxZ0! We understand your perspective, but this is an intentional moderation decision on our part.

When a discussion deviates into something that’s account-specific or requires investigation that can’t happen publicly, we’ll continue it over email rather than leave an open thread that other members can’t meaningfully participate in. Likewise, when multiple members report the same issue, we’ll continue to consolidate those discussions into a single thread rather than have several conversations covering the same ground.

Going forward, we’ll continue moderating discussions this way. It helps us keep related conversations together, avoid duplicate discussions, and move account-specific issues into the private channels where we can actually investigate and resolve them.
