Question

Why was my forum account deleted?

This was strange. I opened a forum account in 2023. I haven't been the most active user, but I had posted two or three threads.

Today, when I went to post a new thread, I found that I couldn't log in. I thought my password needed to be reset, so I tried the usual "I forgot my password" link, but I didn't receive anything. I then decided to create a new account and found, using the forum search, that all my posts had been changed from my username to Anonymous.

Is there some kind of policy that says an account is deleted after it has been inactive for a certain period of time?

I am a member of countless community forums on the internet, and this is the first time I have seen my account deleted without any warning.

I would appreciate some clarification about this. Thanks.

PD/: After I finished writing this post I found that you have migrated the community site. I now guess it was during this process that my account got deleted, but, why not migrate my account instead of deleting it, following your threads about the migration process?

Hi @Thorz, thanks for your question.

As you found, we moved our Community to a new platform earlier this year. We also went through a similar process at the beginning of last year with another platform migration. In both cases we made announcements in the Community itself, and we also sent out direct communications. Users who had not signed in for a set window prior to each migration were not migrated to the new platform. I’m sorry for any trouble this has caused.

We cannot restore an account that was removed during migration, so creating a new account is the only option. My apologies again for any difficulty.
