I have a GitHub education free trial for last year, and my free trail have been expired today. I fount that the page in 1Password for student mentions that the students are able to get a 50% discount, but I couldn't find any page to apply for this discount. Does any way to solve this problem? Thank you.Solved2KViews0likes3CommentsQ2 2025: 1Password Security Spotlight & Roadmap Review

The issue I am having is that we save a very large number of credentails and details in 1password, and currently, I am creating vaults with names of the department and a subsection name as part of the vault name As an example for illustration only: for HR, I have a vault called HR-References, another vault called HR-AnnualLeave, and another called HR-Attendance But this means we end up with a massively long list of vaults. It would be much much better if we could have nested vaults, or even folder to contains to store all the different sets of data in an organised manner under the one parent vault. so ideally we would have a vault called HR, and then within that vault, either subvaults, or folders/containers that could contain specific items by topic Hope this makes sense. As I'm sure the rest of us did, I received the e-mail notice that The EXE installer is being deprecated from 11th November 2025 1Password will force a re-install to the MSI on all users on 11th November 2025 Deprecating the installer, fine. But re-installing the application on all devices outside of the scope of our own software controls and only giving 30-day notice is not fine. The reasons for forcing the EXE re-installations are inaccurate, as we have been using the EXE installer with a "Protected Install" (ie. installed in C:\Program Files\1Password\) for months. We already disable 1Password updates by using the same registry keys the MSI installer creates for "MANAGED_INSTALL" and "MANAGED_UPDATE" (both set to "1"). Is this enough to prevent 1Password from trying to migrate to the new installation method on the 11th November 2025? Having to change installation architecture, maybe installation location, and a new version is going to require CAB approval from two different departments, be pushed to pilot groups, re-approved following testing, and then scheduled for the wider business. Only 30-days notice for this type of major change feels like a lack of consideration for customers. So two things to take away for the 1Password team here: Detail methods on how to prevent this change from being automatically pushed as part of the update e-mail and change articles as it isn't clear that just disabled updates is enough Give 60 days+ notice on these types of major changes 1Password is the most important software we have in our business. We trust 1Password literally with the keys to every system. It is heavily scrutinised and has to go through several rounds of approval for updates.Solved601Views0likes3CommentsFeature Request: Rename Employee Vault in 1Password Business
Hello 1Password Team, I’m writing on behalf of our organization, which uses 1Password Business. We find the default “Employee” vault name misleading for individual use, as many mistakenly assume it contains passwords for all employees. This confusion is even greater in the German translation where it appears as “Angestellte” making it unclear that this vault is for personal credentials. It would be far more intuitive if this built‑in vault could either be renamed freely or, at minimum, default to “Personal” as it does in Family and Individual plans. Proposed Improvement Clearer Naming: Changing “Employee” to “Personal” (or allowing custom names) eliminates ambiguity, especially in non‑English locales. Consistency: All other vaults in Business plans can be renamed; extending this to the default vault aligns with current functionality. Improved Usability: Allowing organizations to set a meaningful name (e.g., “Personal,” “Private,” “My Vault”) streamlines onboarding and vault management. The article https://support.1password.com/deploy-1password/?windows#msi-deployment-options states: and the https://releases.1password.com/windows/stable/ page states in the release notes for version 8.10.72: But when I deploy the machine-wide (.msi) 1Password for Windows with the MANAGED_UPDATE=1 parameter specified, users are still prompted to update the application when new versions become available, and they also have the ability to "Check for Updates". I expected MANAGED_UPDATE=1 to stop both of these things from occurring and a recent https://www.reddit.com/r/1Password/comments/1k1dnsj/controlled_update_of_1password/ appears to support this assumption: Am I missing something here?Solved481Views0likes10Comments"Installation stopped. 1Password is already installed on this device" Notification
Good morning, Multiple users, including myself, are receiving this error: After clicking, "Yes" the pop-up will come back sometime later. We are deploying 1Password via Intune (Windows Store App). My mom and dad have their own computer each. They are elderly and are awful at understanding how to secure their multiple websites access, and installing 1password on their computer and asking them to learn how it works is not an option. So I'm using password caching in their browsers and it works fine. But to create these multiple passwords, I've created two vaults in my family account. I set up myself each items in their vaults and copy/paste the new passwords in their browser cache and they're ready to go. Easy. But here's the security issue I'm facing (and anyone managing multiple vaults): Now there's only one main password (mine) securing ALL vaults (theirs and mine). From wanting to help them secure their computers, I'm becoming the greatest weak point in that security chain. If a hacker eventually figure out my main password, I'm becoming a liability to those other vaults. But beside setting up a super crazy password as the main password, what else can I do to "spread the risks".351Views0likes2CommentsDownload 1Password MSIX Latest Installer
Where can I download the latest MSIX installer for the 1Password desktop app? When I visit https://releases.1password.com/windows/, it shows the latest beta version of 1Password for Windows as 8.10.82-27, but the available download is an .exe file. However, in the article below, the MSIX installer that's available for download is only for version 8.10.78-39: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/beta-release-new-msix-installer-for-1password-for-windows/155230343Views0likes3CommentsAvoiding Personal-Business Use Mixups
I currently have a 1Password family account, with multiple vaults, including one for the nonprofit I lead. Now I'd like my Board of Directors to use 1Password as well. However, I'm concerned about mixups and wonder if I'm better off with a different arrangement (e.g. a different password manager for business use). My question is, how does one actually shift between personal 1Password use to business use and back again on the same device(s)? Is it like opening different vaults? Or will I need to log in and out of each separate account? Or what? Thanks!Solved300Views0likes8Comments
