1Password for Mac quits unexpectedly

Why does 1Password now continually quit when I just want it to remain open in the background? This did not happen before. Some time after the update of MacOS to 27.0.1, and the update of 1Password for the Mac to 8.12.40, it started happening. And yes, I have 1Password in the MenuBar, so that isn’t the problem.

Hello @User6! 👋

I’m sorry that 1Password is closing unexpectedly on your Mac. Are there any specific steps that cause 1Password to close? Or is it completely random?

And when 1Password closes, do you still see the 1Password icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen?

I can’t discern any specific things that trigger 1Password quitting. Might it have something to do with using the Safari browser, which has a different way of dealing with 1Password than my usual browser, Firefox, does? Right now I have both browsers open.

I know there is a message that states that it locks after 10 minutes, which is fine. I just don’t want it to quit entirely. When I sign back in, I always have to set it back to where I want it (the Personal Vault) because it loses that setting when it locks.

The 1Password icon remains in the menubar, even when the app has quit. It is currently set to Show a Menu.
