Question

1Password for Mac unable to scan any 2FA QR Code

Hello,

Using 1Password 8.11.6 on macOS 15.6.1. Again, the app can no longer scan 2FA QR Codes. Nothing happens. No message, no error.

I’ve completely uninstalled 1Password by following this guide, restarted my Mac and reinstalled 1Password: the issue is still present.

Thank you

Hello @Tcheuck! 👋

I'm sorry that you're not able to scan QR codes again. As a start, please update to 8.11.8 which is the latest version: How to keep 1Password up to date

If you still see the issue after updating then can you confirm that you're following the same steps:

  1. Open the app in question.
  2. Navigate to a app or website's security page until you see the 2FA QR code.
  3. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app. Make sure that you can see the QR code on the screen.
  4. Edit the appropriate Login item and then click add more > One-Time Password.
  5. Click the scan QR code button.
  6. Save the item.

If you are following these steps then can you share the app/browser/website that you're running into the issue with?

@1P_Dave Same issue with the latest 1Password version. It happens on all websites.

I’m using the latest version of Google Chrome and Firefox on macOS 15.6.1.
