Agentic Autofill for Claude always fails with "relayUnavailable"
I'm trying to use the 1Password + Claude integration (Agentic Autofill), but every credential request from Claude fails with "relayUnavailable". The local relay between the 1Password browser extension and the desktop app never seems to come up.
Environment
- macOS
- 1Password for Mac 8.12.28 (81228025)
- 1Password browser extension 8.12.28.25 (81228025), STABLE channel, Chrome
- Claude browser extension installed and connected
- Developer Integrations: "Integrate with 1Password CLI" is on (used for a separate secret-reference workflow in .env files). "Integrate with 1Password SDKs" is currently off.
What works
- Pairing completes successfully. I get the "Authorize Claude with 1Password" dialog and approve it with Touch ID.
What fails
- Every credential request returns transport_error / relayUnavailable.
- This happens in both the Claude desktop app (Cowork) and Claude Code.
Already ruled out
- Swapped the extension from the Nightly channel to STABLE - no change.
- Restarted Chrome, the 1Password app, and the Mac - no change.
- Re-did the Claude / 1Password pairing - no change.
- Both app and extension meet the documented 8.12.28+ requirement.
- Tried "Integrate with 1Password SDKs" both enabled and disabled - no difference.
- Support's AI chatbot suggested "op plugin inspect/clear/init claude", but that returns "unknown plugin: claude" - the CLI shell plugins are unrelated to this issue.
Has anyone got Agentic Autofill working, or knows what else could stop the extension / desktop app relay from coming up?
