Android version of 1Password can’t use biometric unlock – always asks for master password
Hello,
I'm using 1Password for Android on a Xiaomi 15 and am experiencing a major issue. Even though I’ve enabled biometric authentication (fingerprint) in the settings and selected "Never confirm with Master Password," the app still forces me to enter my account password every time I open it. It completely ignores the biometric unlock. Switching to "Use device unlock" doesn’t help either – it still only lets me type a password.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far, none of which worked:
- Updated to the latest version from the Play Store (including beta releases).
- Turned biometric unlock off and on again and re-enrolled my fingerprints.
- Cleared the app data and reinstalled.
- Set 1Password’s background management to "Unlimited" in the system settings to ensure it isn’t killed in the background.
- Restarted the phone, reinstalled the app multiple times and re-added the account.
None of these steps solved the problem. On one occasion it randomly started working for a short time, but the issue returned shortly afterwards. It seems to be an official bug. Is there any other workaround? Are the developers aware of this issue, and is there any progress on a fix that I can follow?
Thank you!
