Bug: Duplicate context menu when right-clicking in Safari

Is there a fix to stop 1Password appearing in the context menu twice?

Currently in Safari if you right click in a text field, the context menu has duplicated entries for the 1Password section.

1Password Version: 8.10.46
Extension Version: 8.10.46.34
OS Version: macOS 15.0.1
Browser: Safari

Hello!

Thank you for reporting this issue, and thanks to everyone who followed up in the thread. Our development team investigated and found that differences in how Safari/WebKit handles the right-click menu, compared to other browsers like Chrome and Firefox, can cause 1Password to appear twice in Safari’s context menu.

We’ve shared our findings with our friends at Apple, and we’re hopeful this can be addressed in a future macOS update.

Hello @maver1ck! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! This is a known issue that is on our development team's radar to be investigated further.

For the time being, the duplicate shouldn't cause any trouble and you can use either option.

Right-clicking anywhere on a page shows one 1Password item in the context menu, as expected. Right-clicking into a text box shows the menu item twice. This is with the extension enabled on Safari 18.6 on macOS Sequoia 15.7. The site tested is CNN.

Two months and this still hasn’t been fixed? Does 1Password for Mac even get updates anymore? It’s not like the 8.11.4 was a world revolution, this and the little spacing adjustment could be done in an hour or two, including code review.

I want to confirm that the issue is still here with Extension 8.12.12.44 / App 8.12.12 / Safari 26.4 / macOS 26.4.1

This is still an issue with:

  • macOS 26.6.1 (25G76)
  • Safari 26.6 (21624.4.5.11.5)
  • 1Password for Mac 8.12.33
  • 1Password extension 8.12.29.1 81229001, on STABLE channel

As mentioned earlier, the duplicate only appears when right-clicking inside a field. Elsewhere on the page, only one appears.
