Google Authenticator for the 1Password account

Considering MFA for 1Password itself. I am aware of Turn on two-factor authentication for your 1Password account article.

For reasons I can’t rationalize beyond their bare website, using Authy makes me hesitate. Microsoft on iOS just doesn’t feel right, and Okta is probably a good choice.

Also for reasons I can’t rationalize, Google Authenticator feels as a good choice but it is not available. Why?

A better question that may remove some of my hesitation, is probably: Can I configure more than one app as backup?

Thanks for the question! You can use any authenticator app that supports the Time-based One-time Password (TOTP), your choices aren’t limited to the options listed in our support article. So if you’d like to use Google Authenticator you can definitely do so! 

A better question that may remove some of my hesitation, is probably: Can I configure more than one app as backup?

You can! When it comes time to scan the QR code, as part of the setup process for MFA, you can scan that code using multiple authenticator apps and all of the apps will be able to generate the same one-time password.
