iOS 26.6 (iPhone 17 Pro Max) Battery Drain in Safari

I have recently noticed my phone getting quite warm whilst browsing using Safari. I connected my phone to my Macbook Pro and retrieved the logs. There are a LOT of the following while Safari is open (190,000 lines in a 42 second capture):

error    18:46:59.808300-0400    MobileSafari    WebContent[706] Promise rejected: Invalid call to runtime.sendNativeMessage(). The operation couldn’t be completed. (SFErrorDomain error 3.).
error    18:46:59.808315-0400    MobileSafari    WebContent[706] Promise rejected: Invalid call to runtime.sendNativeMessage(). The operation couldn’t be completed. (SFErrorDomain error 3.).
error    18:46:59.808329-0400    MobileSafari    WebContent[706] Promise rejected: Invalid call to runtime.sendNativeMessage(). The operation couldn’t be completed. (SFErrorDomain error 3.).
error    18:46:59.808341-0400    MobileSafari    WebContent[706] Promise rejected: Invalid call to runtime.sendNativeMessage(). The operation couldn’t be completed. (SFErrorDomain error 3.).

I uninstalled 1Password from my phone and this error message went away entirely. I then re-installed it and it came back. Then I disabled the Safari Extension and it went away.

I am not in lockdown mode. I have logs I can send directly to support should need be.

I’d love to fix this! For now I can keep the extension disabled, but that doesn’t seem like a great long term solution.

I'm sorry that you're seeing unexpected battery usage when using 1Password on your iOS devices. So that the team and I can investigate further, can you share the following: 

  1. A screenshot of the battery usage from 1Password that you see here: iOS > Settings > Battery.
  2. The exact version of iOS 26 that you're using: Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  3. The version of 1Password that you're using: Find the version numbers for 1Password and your operating system

Hello,

 

  1. I don’t have a screenshot handy of the battery usage, although if you really need it, I can re-enable the extension, use the browser for a bit and then get the screenshot. Safari was the top user of battery life (and indeed that appears to be where the error was originating, via the extension).

Thank you for the reply! If you could, please update to iOS 26.6.1 and then try to reproduce the issue again. Please collect a screenshot of the excessive energy use that you’re seeing (from iOS > Settings > Battery) as well as a 1Password diagnostics report from your iOS device while the issue is happening:

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

With your email please include:
