New Feature "Expiry date" - Where is the alert?

I would like to know if I just don't understand it or if it doesn't work.

I have added a date to an item and set an alarm for the day before.

But no alarm appears on the day of the alarm?!

I can only see that the item is expiring or about to expire when I navigate to the item itself or look in the watchtower.

However, I understand "alert" to mean something else.

My expectation is that there is either a notification from 1Password or I at least get some kind of indication on the main screen, e.g. a newly introduced category "expired" with a red 1 on it or something.

Is there anything else planned, as I don't find it very helpful as it is now.

Hi @Ronso,

I'm sorry that the "alert" is expected only in the item details view or the Watchtower section currently. I understand it might be ignored easily.

Therefore, I shared your feedback and filed a feature request accordingly for our team to improve the feature. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Also adding my voice, a few client secrets have missed their rotation because I forgot to look into Watchtower.

Whole team would appreciate this feature - currently creating a calendar alert is a safer bet for catching key rotations then using 1Password.

Out of curiosity - are there any murmurs from the dev team about how far off this is? 😀

@smor

Thanks so much for the feedback! I’ve shared your request with the team. I don’t have any updates on whether or when this feature might be added, but we really appreciate you taking the time to share what you’d like to see.

+1 from me as well. I do not use the alert system as having to look in WatchTower to find an alert…. well that is just bizarre! Clearly a function released before it was ready. I certainly hope the dev team doesn’t use any usage metrics for the alert to decide whether to further develop it, since it is a non-function at present and therefore will be under utilised until it becomes a proper function.

I also falsely assumed the notifications would be more bluntly presented and missed a SCIM certificate renewal for our org.

This isn’t simply a QOL improvement. It is a critical oversight given that you’re targeting users doing Secret Management.

Please add configurable alerts as someone suggested above. (Opting in to an email alert, or having an intrusive app alert until the expiry is reset.
