Safari Extension Unresponsive; App Slow Performance

  • In Safari, the 1PW extension often becomes unresponsive. Clicking the 1PW widget in the username/password fields results in nothing. Quitting Safari and relaunching it restores functionality temporarily until the extension fails again minutes later.

  • The standalone 1PW App is slow to launch. Once it launches, it takes several seconds to load the list of items in the view. The search function in the app is especially slow. The app becomes unresponsive for several seconds after the search term is entered until the results appear. Overall the app feels laggy and sluggish, much more so than a year ago, and much more than other apps on this Mac.

macOS 15.5, 1Password for Mac 8.10.78 (81078043), on a M3 MacBook Pro. This has been going on for months now.

Hi @galacticbossanova and @manuelw,

Thanks for flagging these issues and I'm sorry you're seeing performance problems.

For the Safari extension, we're currently waiting on an updated version of Safari from our friends at Apple that will fix some bugs that are affecting the 1Password extension.

For the 1Password Mac app, we're investigating what's causing this for some folks and not others. I'd encourage you to follow along in this thread going into it, as it has information about how you can submit your logs and help us get to the bottom of this.

I'm sorry we don't have an immediate solution, but know that we're doing everything in our power to improve the Safari experience and solve the Mac slowness.

Thanks@1P_SimonH for the update. I’d really love for 1P to get back on top again; it used to be so great, but seems like ever since the transition from 7 to whatever it’s called now—just 1Pass?—things have not been working as they should.

I’ll follow up in the other thread, submit diagnostics, and post my ticket number there. Thanks again.
