Touch ID no longer available/working in Chrome extension

In the last weeks touch ID is no longer available/working via the browser extension in Chrome on a MacBook Air, 2024. There is no option given for it, only for password entry. It was working great and then stopped. Now I need to enter my password all the time. The standalone app works perfectly with touch ID and with my Apple watch. I've uninstalled the browser extension and reinstalled, have also tried all steps listed here: https://1password.community/discussion/143609/touch-id-for-1password-chrome-extension-has-stopped-working

1Password Version: 8.10.40
Extension Version: 8.10.44.21
OS Version: macOS Sonoma 14.6.1
Browser: Chrome 128.0.6613.84

Hello @jenjohnson! 👋

I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working with 1Password in the browser anymore. It sounds like the connection between the desktop app and the browser extension isn't working. Can you try the following:

  1. Restart your Mac.
  2. Open and unlock the 1Password desktop app using Touch ID.
  3. Open your browser.
  4. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
  5. Turn "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" off.
  6. Turn "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" back on.

Does that allow you to unlock 1Password in the browser using Touch ID? If it doesn't then do you see a green circle under the "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" setting? Or do you see a different colour circle with an error message?

Thanks, Dave. I did all the steps and it didn't solve the issue. Under the "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" setting, the circle is yellow and it says, "Problems connecting. Please make sure the 1Password app is unlocked." (The desktop app was/is unlocked.)

Hi @1P_Dave - realized I didn't tag you, in case that was needed. I've repeated the suggested steps a few times and still not resolving the issue. Thanks.

@jenjohnson and @BKmoth

I'm sorry that the steps didn't help. I'd like you to try the following next:

  1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
  2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Browser.
  5. Turn "Connect with 1Password in the browser" off.
  6. Turn "Connect with 1Password in the browser" back on.

If that still doesn't work then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

Sending Diagnostics Reports (browser extension)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.
