Unable to authenticate with GitHub for the Student Developer Pack

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to apply for the 1Password student benefit through the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

However, when I try to sign in with GitHub from the 1Password student page, I receive the following error:

Something went wrong
We weren't able to authenticate with your GitHub account. Please try again or contact support.

I have tried the authentication process multiple times, but the same error continues to appear. My GitHub account is currently eligible for the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there anything I need to change in my GitHub account settings or 1Password account to complete the authentication?

Any help would be appreciated. I can also provide a screenshot or additional account details to a 1Password team member through a private channel if needed.

Thank you.

I’ll also include a few things you could try below - however if these don’t work, your best bet will be emailing in to support:

  • Try a different browser.
  • Disable any browser extensions, particularly ad blockers or privacy tools.
  • Make sure you’re not using a VPN, proxy, or network with strict firewall filtering.
