1Password doesn't start after an update

1Password updated itself on my Windows PC earlier today, telling me that a reboot was required to update some components. After that reboot (and some more), 1Password doesn't start.

Launching 1Password.exe from a terminal gives me this error:

[0925/095327.469:ERROR:base\i18n\icu_util.cc:224] Invalid file descriptor to ICU data received.

To be noted: the 1Password browser extension (in Chrome) works ok. (This somehow surprises me, I thought it relied on the native 1Password Windows application.)

Did anyone else experience such a problem?

Hi @afrisch! Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear the reinstall got things working. If you run into any other trouble, just let us know.

You can use the extension independently from the 1Password desktop app and vice versa. That said, we typically recommend using both in tandem for the best filling and unlocking experience.

Thanks again!

Fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling.
